ARTX

2013

ArtX was our inaugural camp that focused on creating an open and accepting community where campers were encouraged to be exactly who they were.  The intention of the camp was to mentor young people and build them up through creative arts and personal sharing while also indulging in their own Childlike Wonder.  We hosted Artlabs for campers to explore their creative passions through DJing, photography, dance and improv.  Campers also went through Lifeshops that helped expose campers to new perspectives.

The video for our Indiegogo campaign. We're hoping to raise funds for a community youth space and our Spring Camp Eayikes!

TRIBES

Campers and staffers were divided into tribes where most of the one on one interaction occurred.  Campers and staffers worked together within their tribe to create a tribe name and identity consistent with the personalities amongst the tribe.  Each tribe went out into the community looking for inspiration for their tribe identity and went to the Long Beach Reuse Depot to gather props to help present their Tribe names to each other.  The tribes were named Pizza Party, FYN, The Peanut Gallery, Samurai Zombie Chocolate Cats and Tribe 356.

What do you know about Samurai Zombie Chocolate Cats??!!

CAMP LIFE

LIFESHOPS

Each day of camp, the campers participated in a LifeShop activity that was focused on identifying and developing life skills of the campers.  This camp's LifeShops were focused around helping campers Finding Your Cause, Foods of the World, yoga and discovering music industry opportunities. Each Lifeshop gave campers the opportunity to engage with their peers about their own values and life experiences.

ARTLABS

Each camper had the opportunity to participate in creative ArtLabs such as photography, dance, improv and djing.  Our staff consisted of professionals from each respective creative industry and they mentored and helped our campers explore their interest within each ArtLab.  Each ArtLab was designed to spark campers interest in relative parts of the creative culture and teaching them how to express themselves through different forms of creativity.

CAMP GAMES

We like to have fun and get people out of their comfort zones!  We played camp games that helped brings us together through laughter with each other and at each other.  Camp games allowed all of us to remember the valuable lesson of "never losing your Childlike Wonder."
