They did it!! 4 of our Long Beach boys took their first trip ever outside of SoCal, to Saaaaan Fraaaaaancisco! Eayikes is all about getting out of your comfort zone and exposing yourself to other perspectives and ways of life. Visiting SF was a bucket list item for them, so they used the Eayikes platform and resources to check it off while paying some of that love forward. Here are some of their thoughts about the experience:

"Eayikes in the bay was to put things simple, it was amazing. I got to see a city that I've always wanted to see, I got to dabble with a secret interest of mine, being photography. Now let's talk about the actual road trip itself, if I said it was smooth sailing i would be lying to you, the bus arrives late in Long Beach, so we miss our bus in Los Angeles. Then we deal with delay after delay, but the bus gets there after 3 hours and we're off! The trip itself was pretty cool! Myself and the friends I went with made friends on the bus and we're still in touch to this day. We cross Bay Bridge around 9 p.m and are greeted by beautiful illuminated downtown San Francisco. The bus throws is in the deep end by arriving in downtown, a place full of skyscrapers 5 lane one way streets, hill after hill after hill, at that point it sunk in, I have arrived in San Francisco. And let me tell you it is a completely different ball game in Long Beach, San Francisco is crowded and full of attractions and beautiful buildings, don't get me wrong I love my city but we're talking Apple's and oranges here over the course of the weekend i found no similarities between the two; but they both have their pros and cons. My favorite moment was walking the Golden Gate Bridge from point to point. If you have the chance go! It will give you a different perspective on life, that applies to me especially because I have never been outside of long beach, it made me realize there really is a whole different world outside your front door."

"I really liked going on the sight seeing points and places. I love the area and would love to go back. I would love to go back and see those museums that you were telling us about as we drove by as well as the exploritorium. The whole trip was eye-opening in regards to how different things are down here in long beach."

"Getting the go fund me page was a little tough because we had to think out what we would put in the information/reason why we wanted people to help with donations, so we had to sit down and really think really well. I had a few doubts about the trip even happening because it kept getting pushed back because of things coming up. Before we left and as it was getting closer I was so excited I was nervous and couldn't stop shaking. When we first arrived I was glad we finally arrived after the awful bus trip. Jumped off the bus and looked at the sweet architecture and saw how nice it looked. My favorite moments were checking out pier 39, going to the Golden Gate bridge, Stella Bakery, and Mr Holmes' bakeries. Things are more expensive out there and the temperature can sneak up on you, so maybe going in the summer is a good idea, unless you like the cold. I would definitely recommend an experience like this to other people."

"We pass through L.A. feeling pretty excited!!, starting messing around, laughing telling jokes, trying to connect to wifi in an unfruitful attempt. Finally we slowly crawl our way into the mountains; by then half of us were asleep or eating snacks. we finally get into the SF greyhound terminal, go eat dinner then get a quick look around at the sights.. we reach tower hill i think?? that looks over everything. then go get some rest for the following day, next morning we got up and went to see the bridge which was pretty awesome!. it was really windy as we walked i thought that pretty enjoyable!.  After that we toured the city saw little japan, and other little districts. It was pretty interesting how the districts could change so completely in just a block or two. saw the full house house, learned different facts about the city. its was a pretty long day so we were feeling tired and crashed rather easily, the next morning we went to the city hall to volunteer and give out some sandwiches and water."

Huuuuuuuuuuuge shoutout to Jhust & Chewy holding it down for Eayikes in the Bay! These two coordinated the trip, housed & cooked for the boys, and spent their weekend as San Franciscan docents.

The boys wanted to give thanks to the folks that helped fund they're exploration and community service trip. They'll be headed up to the Bay Area on the weekend of October 2nd!

From Ray guiding them through the self-reflection & writing process to y'all's generosity, our Bay Area friends & family looking out to ultimately Austin, Leo, Jahleel, and Brandan going for it, teamwork truly makes the dreamwork.

Much love everybody!!
