10,000 Meals and Counting

Can you believe it? We've hit over 10,000 meals served! Now that's some wildin' people power!! We could not have done this without the generous and selfless support from our volunteers, drivers, partners, and donors!

Since the pandemic put the world on hold in March, we have seen devastating effects on our unhoused neighbors, a population in LA that is overwhelmingly Black and Latinx. Once we saw this happening, we imagined we could enlist the help of a few friends to volunteer to make some meals, ask drivers to pick up those meals, and deliver to those who had lost access to essential services that provide food. What would happen between then and now was beyond our imagination.

Of course, we could not have even put the original building blocks in place without the partnership with Melissa and Polo’s Pantry. Mel has been doing the work in the community for years, working to provide access to food for those in need across the city. She has also connected us to many other key partners in the process that have been essential to promoting our program, funding our supplies, and distributing these meals. The Home-y Made Meals project would not be where we are today without Mel!

Over the course of the last 3 months, we have grown to almost 400 volunteer chefs, over 130 volunteer drivers, and countless donors and supporters. Everything from individual small donations and Instagram shares, all the way to The Hundreds donating the proceeds from their mask sales, every little bit has helped us get to 10K meals served, and we're not stopping here.

As we continue to navigate through the rising pandemic & unstable political climate, we want to make sure we took the time to sincerely THANK YOU for supporting Eayikes x Polo's Pantry Home-y Made Meals.

If you are interested in getting involved, check out our Home-y Made Meals website

Let's stay connected :)
