Basic Human Rights

Before anything, we must acknowledge the history of our nation. USA is land stolen from indigenous natives, built from the backs of Black bodies. This is factual, this is our truth. Our country’s systems are built from this foundation, and the racial and systemic injustices that have grown from these roots are the fruits of its perpetuation. We must first acknowledge these truths as we begin the work. We will make sure our work moving forward is informed by honoring this acknowledgment.

This is about basic human rights. The right to breathe, the right to be free in your existence, the right to be fed, the right to have shelter. We’re only as strong as the care and empowerment of our most vulnerable neighbors. From here, we can create the compassionate world we are seeking.

We are power, we are love. Each and every one of us. With that, we each have a choice. Where will we direct our efforts? Who will we share our love and light with? The ability to craft and build the world we want for ourselves and our future generations lies within us, the time to use it is now. It can start by continuing to educate ourselves, and impact our friends, families, workplaces, and communities.

As a community, we will be using our people power and digital spaces to: facilitate necessary dialogues around racism and injustice, grow our power, build community, and elevate the voices and organizations moving our world to a place where everyone’s basic human rights are recognized fully. We will remain steadfast in continuing Home-y Made Meals with Polo’s Pantry, feeding our most vulnerable communities during COVID-19.

The work is a lifelong process. A process of recognizing, learning, evolving, and progressing. Love and appreciate yourself for wanting to do that work. As our world marches forward for economic, racial, and criminal justice for black and brown Americans who continue to be oppressed and murdered by police, many other fellow communities will need our action and love as well. As long as we stay engaged in this process within ourselves, then we will always be able to answer the call of that service. Much love and respect to you all!
