The Donuts “Jelly-Filled Fridays” at Proof Bar was a gathering we held in Santa Ana every first Friday for one year. Originally, The Donuts were a group of friends from UCI who all stayed connected via an email listserve. From there, it laid the groundwork for community, social gatherings, and trying different events with our friends with the intention to fundraise for doing good in the world. “To celebrate creativity and inspire positivity” was our intention during this season. We had art shows, open mics, guest DJs, and…you guessed it, donuts! During this first year of community organizing, we experienced people ready to show up, express, play, and share more of themselves with each other. It was the practice of doing these events that showed us how to party with a purpose! Funds raised from Jelly-Filled Fridays would pay for the fees to incorporate and start Eayikes.
