Party w Purpose

The King King was a venue right in the heart of Hollywood that housed and held our first two camp fundraisers. Those fundraisers were powered by our homey and community resources, from our friends at Culture Shock LA and The Kinjaz performing, to an open mic and freestyle session, and DJs throwing down. One highlight we still laugh about was the homemade creation of shadow curtains, where people could share dance moves onstage, in anonymity, with their silhouette getting down for the crowd. We also made and sold felt bow ties and donut hats, and hosted games like “Pin The Rattail on Ray”. It was built with the love of the community, and completely funded our first two camps! Fast forward to 2021, General Lee’s in Chinatown became a home base on Friday nights. Thanks to Keeno and Jane for helping organize a full year of parties that netted a lot of good good for our local and global world. Isn’t it fun when creativity, community, and service collide? Throw in some honey walnut shrimp from Full House and life is good.
